About the event
Water is an essential resource for life, both for people and animals. It is used for drinking, cooking, growing crops, as well as for hygiene and sanitation, the latter being particularly important in controlling the spread of infection and disease, including Covid-19. Across regions of Africa, Asia and Latin America water is a scarce good, and it is fast becoming scarce in many other regions too.
While technology and financing are key to solving the water crisis, low-cost and low-tech, locally-owned solutions exist and can contribute to achieving aims under the Water Action Agenda. This event will look at water provision projects around the world that are implemented through intersectoral partnerships and involve locally owned solutions, with an emphasis on the role of women as beneficiaries but most of all, as drivers and owners of local water solutions.
Please note: This event will be available in English and French languages.
